The death toll from the floods in Ukraine also continues to rise. Russia announced on Tuesday that 17 people had died in the floods caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka dam on the Dnipro river in Moscow-controlled areas. The Russian authorities had previously reported 8 deaths on the eastern bank of the river.

The Russian army claims to have captured Western tanks and armored vehicles. The Russian army claimed, with video evidence, to have captured for the first time on the front in Ukraine German-made Leopard tanks and American-made Bradley tanks, supplied to Kiev by the West for its counter-offensive. “We’re not going to be able to replace every tank that stops working”, warned the German Defense Minister on Monday evening.

The Ukrainian counter-offensive was launched. President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday that the Ukrainian army’s offensive was “difficult” but that it was “progressing”, after his administration had claimed earlier in the day to have recaptured at least seven villages from Russian forces.
